E-Guides

E-GuidesThe E-Guides training programme has been developed and delivered by NIACE since 2004 and gives a thorough introduction to e-learning and the skills required to use technology effectively in teaching and learning in the FE system.

The hugely successful programme is delivered on behalf of the QIA as part of the Teaching and Learning Programme. Since 2004, the programme has been making a major contribution to workforce development in those sectors where it has been implemented – adult and community learning, work-based learning, voluntary and community sector and offender learning and skills.

"Without doubt, the best training since I qualified as a teacher thoroughly enjoyable and useful programme."

What is the E-Guides programme?

The programme aims to drive improvement in teaching and learning by increasing the effective use of e-learning in all areas of learning, by developing the skills and knowledge of E-Guides to support colleagues in their use of technology.

Within the training itself, the objectives are to:

  • explore the role of E-Guides
  • develop skills in the use of technology throughout the learner journey
  • consider and plan models of cascade training, coaching and mentoring
  • provide E-Guides with resources for developing e-learning with their colleagues in their organisations.

How E-Guides can help you with your CPD

Participation in the programme may contribute to your 30 hours (or pro rata) CPD requirement provided you:

  • critically reflect on what you have learned
  • evidence how you have applied this to your practice
  • evidence how this has impacted on your learners' experience and success.

Additionally, E-Guides can support staff in their CPD through cascade activities.
